Another way to help this critical species is by boycotting products with palm oil. Palm oil is the biggest cause of deforestation in Indonesia, and is, therefore, the most prominent factor leading to Sumatran Orangutans habitat loss and population decline (The Crisis, 2017). Palm oil is put in a wide variety of products but that does not mean that it is impossible to avoid it all together. Even though it may seem insignificant, boycotting palm oil can have a significant effect.
